"Interface is the new brand. You could have the best content in the world, but that doesn’t matter if the interface is bad," said Dale Herigstad of Schematic.
With the launch of the new iPad and the push towards heavily interactive websites, user-friendly GUIs, or Graphical User Interfaces, are becoming a must. People’s patience for tech is diminishing quickly. Users want to get to what they need and they don’t want to spend a lot of time searching for it.
Mobile phones are becoming a model for future interface design. We are seeing a move away from typical websites and a push for more task specific applications. Users are now less likely to open a web browser and type in where they want to go, instead they are reaching for their iPhones and directly opening the pages application.
Apps like Facebook, TweetDeck, and Digg allow people to stay up to date with their favorite websites without ever opening a web browser. These apps are simpler to use than a computer with a web browser.
In this day and age, we are too mobile and too busy to sit at a computer and try and figure out how to use something. We need our info now, and we want it on the go. This is why interfaces for your company are crucial. If you can’t give the user exactly what they want, then someone else will.
