Imagewest: What is your title and brief job description?
Maggie Hinklin: I work with clients, vendors and internal staff (media, creative) to coordinate client’s marketing.

IW: How did Imagewest help prepare you for a career? What was the most useful thing you learned?
MH: Imagewest really prepared me for my career. Working in a team environment with real clients was invaluable experience. Imagewest gave me insight of what its really like in the real world and how to effectively start my job search.

IW: What was one of your most memorable moments during your time at Imagewest?
MH: Definitely interning with Imagewest International in Madrid. It was a wonderful learning experience and I had the time of my life!

IW: What do you wish you could have changed about your college experience or time spent at Imagewest?
MH: I would not change a thing. I worked hard, made life-long friends and probably had way too much fun!

IW: What is a typical day like for you?
MH: Each day is different and a dull day is rare.

IW: What gets you excited to come to work everyday?
MH: Advertising is a fun business. I love the creative nature of the job and being surrounded by great people each day.

IW: Do you have any job hunting advice for upcoming graduates? When did you begin looking for a job? How did you find your job?
MH: I started looking two months before I graduated. The job search was a tough process in this economy. Shortly after graduation I did marketing for a family friend ‘s small business, but it took me 6 months after graduation to land my current job. My advice for recent grads would be to network, put yourself out there as much possible and don’t get discouraged.

IW: What advice can you provide upcoming designers, advertising professionals or PR practitioners?
MH: Try to differentiate yourself from your peers and learn as much as possible while in school to widen your marketability.

IW: What specific qualities/skills are employers looking for in new graduates?
MH: Mature, hard-working individuals, who are professional, have good communication skills and who would do the job well. Its also important that new hires that can fit in to the company’s culture.

IW: What is the best piece of advice or words you live by?
MH: Live life to the fullest!

IW: Are you a dog lover or cat lover?
MH: I am a cat lover, but I also love dogs. I love that my agency is a dog-friendly office!

IW: What is your favorite color?
MH: Pink.

IW: If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?
MH: I would teleport to any destination I wanted around the globe. At the snap of my fingers, I could enjoy a coffee in a café in Paris or lounge on the beach in the Caribbean!

IW: What is your favorite blog, Web site and/or book?
MH: My all time favorite book is Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Lately, my guilty pleasure has been the Sookie Stackhouse novel series. I am also an avid newspaper and magazine reader.
